Annual Country Breakfast

On March 2, 2008, Libertytown Unionville Lions arrived at the Libertytown Fire Hall kitchen at 5 am to prepare a breakfast consisting of pancakes (both plain and blueberry), scrambled eggs, puddin' and hominy, scrapple, sausage, sausage gravy, orange juice, coffee and all the trimmings.  By 12 noon, 386 people had gone through the buffet line and enjoyed a real country style breakfast.

Below are some highlights of the 2008 Breakfast

Always a good cause!

The club has presented a breakfast each year since 1973.  Instead of being a general fund raising event, we have always used the proceeds from the breakfast to benefit a local cause.  This year the club voted to hold the annual breakfast for the benefit of the children of our community.  The staff at Liberty Elementary School made us aware that the playground equipment is in serious need of replacement or repair and that a special fund (Liberty Playground Fund) had been set up to solve this problem; all proceeds from this breakfast were used for that purpose!

Four days after the breakfast Lion President Gary Mullins presented a $2,300 check to the Principal of Liberty Elementary School.  See the picture on the right.

The bake table did well as usual.  Sue Baldwin chats with a customer.

From 7:30 am until 12 noon, diners crowded the Dining Hall  as shown above.
