Liberty Lions Pizza is the best!

In August of 1966 the Libertytown Unionville Lions Club participated in the Libertytown Volunteer Fire Department Carnival by setting up a pizza stand where they started a tradition which continues today.  On that day, 42 years ago, the club netted $136.  In August of 2007 we netted $2,726 at the Carnival selling 478 pizzas.

On March 16, 1982, at a Board of Director's Meeting, Lion Ethan "Junior" Summers asked the board to consider having a pizza stand at the Great Frederick Fair.  In September of that year the club indeed had a stand there.  Profit was $1,519.  We sold the pizzas in one of the buildings for which we paid no rent.  Things have changed - the rent this year was over $1,000!

The following year the club purchased a trailer for $750.  Members of the club did the necessary work to transform it into the pizza stand we use today.

Pizza sales is now our primary fund raising activity.  Besides selling pizza at the Carnival and Fair, we have on occasion sold pizza at the Libertytown Recreation Council sports events and the Liberty Elementary School events.

Below is a gallery of pictures taken at the Fair and Carnival in the summer of 2007.
